The Fluid Concept provides three services to help new media entrepreneurs, personal brands, and content teams achieve their business goals & build appropriate models for long term, sustainable success.

A free newsletter led by a weekly article exploring the trends & changes that are shaping opportunities for new independent media companies, plus commentary on the key media stories of the week.

Exploring the changing nature of digital media

How are the platforms, technologies, laws & consumer trends that allow anyone from a single individual, to a global company become a media company changing? If everyone and everything can become a media company, what happens to the brands and companies that are only trying to produce media? And more importantly, whether you are an influencer, operating a personal brand, actual media company, or marketer for a company, how do you make your content profitable?

The answers to these questions change almost daily, with the announcement of every new service launched by a social platform, every startup attempting to better connect creators and audiences and every law around internet services that gets passed.

The goal of the newsletter is to show how these changes are relevant to your media operation and what your response should be.

What can you expect to read?

Here are some of the topics I intend to cover and questions that I am seeking answers to in my weekly article:

  • Reinventing lifestyle media: why influencers & brands are the new magazines
  • What can we learn from BKChat about the business of independent TV shows?
  • Why bloggers are disappearing, but the art of blogging will live forever
  • Is Trivia HQ the template for doing live digital television?
  • Why there will always be room for a new blog/vlog/podcast
  • How do you measure the impact content, when the end goal isn't just sales or traffic?
  • How does my brand need to approach IGTV?
  • What tools do influencers have to make money from their audience?
  • How to build a media company when everyone is a media company

On top of the weekly article, I'll also be sharing the biggest news stories of the week, why they are important and key things to look out for.

Tailored advice for modern media businesses of any size, every single week

Understanding a trend or a theory that might be meaningful to your media enterprise is one thing - knowing how to apply it is completely different. Factors from the size and demographic make up of your audience, to the format of media or maturity of the category you belong in, all have an impact on the strategy of your digital media business, meaning the only responsible (yet highly annoying) answer to a question like: "Should we be putting ads in our social feed?" is... it depends.

The best way around this is a process that provides one-on-one advice and gets into the specifics of your media business. TFC Membership has been created to offer personalised advice on a topic by topic basis, every week in an accessible way.

How does The Fluid Concept Membership work?

  • A topic about an aspect of running a modern media business will be announced on Monday via newsletter.
  • Members will have until Wednesday evening to submit their questions, with the level of detail that they feel comfortable with.
  • On Friday, the questions and answers will be sent to all members. This format allows you to also learn from the questions and answers asked by other creators.

How much does it cost?

TFC Membership costs £8 a month, or £80 annually.

When will it start?

The new newsletter & blog is already underway, but TFC Membership will be starting in September. There is a 50% discount for 12 months running for anyone that signs up before the end of September.

FAQS

  • Who is TFC Membership for? - TFC Membership is for anyone that wants to take their digital media operation seriously, wherever they are on their journey to building a personal/influencer brand, media business or content team in a marketing department.
  • Why do you share my question and answer with other members? - There is a lot of value in reading and learning from the questions others in a similar situation could ask - they may ask questions you didn't know you needed to ask.
  • Are there student discounts? - TFC Membership is purposely kept at a low price. Most analysts charge thousands of pounds for their reports & newsletters.
  • How soon can I cancel if I don't want to be part of the membership anymore? - Membership can be cancelled at any time and will end on your anniversary date. There are no refunds for early cancellations.
